AI policy roles translate between the people training models and the people regulating them: writing responsible-scaling policies, briefing governments, shaping standards, and reading draft legislation with enough technical grounding to flag what won't work. The EU AI Act's obligations and a spreading patchwork of national rules turned this from advocacy into operations.

Employers include labs, think tanks, government AI institutes, and industry bodies, and the work is overwhelmingly writing and relationships. People who can explain evals to a legislator and legislation to an evals team are rare and get hired quickly.
