LLM & Prompt Engineering jobs

LLM engineering is the layer built on top of the models: RAG pipelines, agent scaffolding, tool use, structured outputs, and the eval harnesses that reveal whether any of it worked. "Prompt Engineer" as a standalone title has mostly faded — AI Engineer and LLM Engineer absorbed it, with prompting demoted to one skill among many.

Day to day you'll live in Python or TypeScript, tune retrieval with embeddings and rerankers, and defend a budget measured in tokens and milliseconds — vLLM if you self-host, provider APIs if you don't. It's the most remote-friendly corner of the industry, since the whole job happens above the infrastructure. Salaries run the full startup gamut, transparency included.
