Product design for AI means giving shape to a system with no fixed behavior: interfaces that stream, cite, hedge, and recover, and flows where the happy path is probabilistic. The canvas has widened past chat — designers here work on agents that act on a user's behalf, which raises trust questions a landing page never had.

Hiring teams want shipped AI product work or prototypes wired to live models — static Figma stopped being enough when interaction with a model became the design material. Familiarity with failure-state design and eval feedback loops shows up in more listings every quarter. There are fewer openings than on the engineering side, and far less competition per seat.
